Numerous studies with contradicting results have been published analyzing the relationships of personality factors with business founding intentions and business success. Based on a comparison of four conceptually similar studies we aim to analyze the varying role of personality factors for business founding intentions, for founding success and for business success in this paper. It can be shown that personality factors play an important role mainly in the early phases of the development of business founding intentions, and a much less important role for founding success and business success The results of this study suggest that especially for the development of business founding intentions the measures for thepromotion of personality characteristics need to been undertaken in schools and universities. It is not possible to predict along term success of a business by evaluating personality factors of the business founder in early stages of the founding process. Hogrefe-Verlag Göttingen 2004.
