Evaluation of an Office Redesign
Activity-based flexible offices (AFO) are open office settings providingspaces for dedicated work activities, making use of the form of hotdesking. This contemporary office environment is increasinglyimplemented in organizations (especially in the Netherlands). However, potential impacts on the workers and the organizations are still unclear.Within the present project we develop a research approach how toexamine the effect of the introduction of an AFO on the employee andorganization. In addition, we examine how the redesign of the officeenvironment towards an AFO changes satisfaction with the workenvironment, fit between working activities and space, and workingconditions in the short and long term. For that purpose, we conducted(together with our cooperation partner) a three-wave longitudinal study(baseline measurement prior to the implementation and two postmeasurements one and six months after the implementation), in oneorganization.
