New publication in June 2025
We are pleased to announce the upcoming publication of our new book
Personnel Development in the Digital and Flexible World of Work by Arabella Mühl, Eva Straus and Christian Korunka (Praxis der Personalpsychologie, Volume 47, Hogrefe Verlag)
Publication date: June 2025
Digitalisation and flexibilisation are shaping the modern world of work and present new challenges for both employees and managers, such as dealing with digital technologies and artificial intelligence, communication in hybrid work settings and the increasing intensification of work. At the same time, there is a growing desire for flexible working models such as working from home or a four-day week. On the one hand, HR development is faced with the task of supporting employees in developing the skills they need to cope with the changing requirements and, on the other hand, creating a framework in which basic needs (e.g. for autonomy and social integration) can be met.
This volume offers a sound insight into theories and models that are helpful in understanding the motivation, well-being and productivity of employees in the context of ‘New Work’ or ‘Work 4.0’. It sheds light on the complex challenges posed by the digitalisation and flexibilisation of the world of work for both employees and managers and derives practical recommendations for action. The volume is rounded off with case studies on the introduction of a home office arrangement and a compressed four-day week.
